On March 30th, we join the world in recognizing World Bipolar Day, a time to raise awareness, promote understanding, and support individuals living with bipolar disorder. The day is celebrated on Vincent van Gogh’s birthday, as the legendary artist is believed to have experienced symptoms of the condition.

Understanding Bipolar disorder

Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings, including episodes of mania (high energy, impulsivity) and depression (low mood, fatigue, hopelessness). These shifts affect daily life, relationships, and overall well-being.

Ending Stigma

Mental health conditions like bipolar disorder are often misunderstood. On this day, we encourage open conversations, support for those affected, and access to mental health care without judgment.

Creating Awareness on Bipolar

Educate yourself and others about bipolar disorder.

Encourage those struggling to seek professional help.

Promote self-care and mental wellness for you and  your community.

Encourage those affected to join the conversation on Bipolar by joining a  support Group to connect with others facing similar challenges.

Its vital to have emergency plans for crisis situations, including emergency contacts and coping strategies.

The following Tips can help in dealing with Bipolar

  • Recognize the Symptoms – Extreme mood swings, periods of excessive energy (mania/hypomania), and deep depressive episodes are key signs.
  • Seek Professional Help – Diagnosis and treatment from a mental health professional are crucial. Early intervention is vital for better treatment outcomes.
